Horn: Enjoy ‘Winter Free Fishing Weekend’ Feb. 14-15

Horn200x300LANSING—In an effort to increase awareness of Michigan’s great fishing, the state offers two weekends each year when residents and out-of-state visitors can get together and enjoy fishing – at no charge.

“The free fishing weekend is an excellent time for Michigan families and out-of-state visitors to enjoy some of the world’s best fishing on both inland and Great Lakes waters,” said state Sen. Ken Horn, R-Frankenmuth. “It is also a terrific time to introduce the joy of fishing to children or for people to simply get away from the stress of life and enjoy Michigan’s great outdoors.”

During the upcoming weekend, on Feb. 14-15, all fishing license fees will be waived. However, all fishing regulations will still apply.

“Michigan is home to more than 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, 36,000 miles of rivers and 11,000 inland lakes,” Horn said. “I encourage residents from Flushing to Freeland to get outdoors to experience the beautiful natural resources with friends and family before the upcoming walleye festivals.”
