Horn’s Senate offices open and ready for business

LANSING – Sen. Ken Horn announced today that both his Lansing office and district office are open and ready to meet the needs of constituents in the 32nd Senate District.

Horn’s Lansing office is located in Room 1010 of the Farnum Building at 125 West Allegan St., across from the Capitol. The district office is located in Saginaw at 5410 State St., where Sen. Roger Kahn previously maintained his office. To schedule an appointment at the district office, residents should contact the main office in Lansing.

“I’m pleased to announce that my offices are open and ready for action.  We’re ready to assist you or just listen if you want to share your thoughts and ideas on an issue facing the state,” said Horn.  “I’m extraordinarily proud of the team we’ve put together and I’d like to introduce you to my Lansing staff.  I’m convinced we’ll work very hard for the district.”

Here’s a brief look at each of the staff in Horn’s office:

Chief of Staff: Jami Des Chenes – A resident of DeWitt, Michigan, Jami has 25 years of experience in a distinctive list of legislative offices, including: Congressman Dave Camp, Congressman Mike Rogers and the late Sen. Bill Van Regenmorter. Jami has a bachelor’s degree in English (MSU) and a master’s in public administration (WMU).

As chief of staff, Jami’s responsibilities will encompass all aspects of managing a Senate office, with a special focus on organizing and managing staff, legislative priorities, constituent service and committee activities. Jami previously worked for Horn during his six years in the House of Representatives and has extensive experience in the Saginaw and Genesee County areas.

Legislative Director: Melanie Ellison – Originally from Auburn, Michigan, Melanie attended SVSU, where she was president of the SVSU College Republicans. Melanie has worked for Horn in several capacities during his time in the House. Most recently, she worked for a short time in the Constituent Service office of Gov. Rick Snyder, before becoming the assistant director of scheduling for the governor.

Melanie will manage Horn’s legislative agenda and assist with the committees he serves on.  In addition, she will serve as Director of Communications and act as point person for all media inquiries.

Constituent Relations Director: Margie Roggelin – Margie grew up in Monroe, Michigan, and attended Siena Heights University. Margie recently joined Horn’s office, bringing eight years of experience in Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville’s office with her. During those eight years, Margie volunteered her time with the Michigan Children’s Trust Fund Auction and Habitat for Humanity.

Margie will work directly with constituents to solve problems within state government and will oversee district outreach.

Office Manager: Brittany Miller – Brittany is from Temperance, Michigan and is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University, where she was active with the Central Michigan University College Republicans. Most recently, Brittany was a student assistant with Secretary of State Ruth Johnson’s team.

The 32nd District includes all of Saginaw County and the cities of Flushing, Linden and Montrose and the townships of Argentine, Clayton, Fenton, Flushing, Gaines and Montrose in Genesee County.
