LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Ken Horn on Friday honored the 2022 winners of his annual March is Reading Month literacy contest.
“Each year my office has hosted this competition as a fun way to promote reading,” said Horn, R-Frankenmuth. “I am proud of the students and amazed at the number of pages read.”
The 2022 winners of Horn’s annual March is Reading Month contest are as follows:
First Place: Tiffany Muylle’s class from Arrowwood Elementary in Saginaw. Total pages read: 56,161.
Second Place: Autumn Louck’s class from St. Lorenz School in Frankenmuth. Total pages read: 25,103.
Third Place: Amanda Rendon’s class from Elms Road Elementary in Swartz Creek. Total pages read: 24,103.
This year, over 300 students participated in the contest and read over 164,000 pages — an average of around 600 pages per student.
“I’d like to again thank the schools, teachers and every class that participated in our district-wide reading contest,” Horn said. “I was impressed by the effort each school and student put into the competition and am excited to announce this year’s winners. Please join me in congratulating the hard work of these students!”
