LANSING, Mich. — Manufacturers joined state and local leaders to honor state Sen. Ken Horn, R-Frankenmuth, as the 2019 MMA Legislator of the Year.
Horn was recognized by the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) for solidifying the Going PRO Talent Fund so that this critical funding is an option to future manufacturers.
“Over the last year, Senator Horn has stood with the MMA and its members on legislation to protect much-needed funding for workforce training,” said MMA President and CEO Chuck Hadden. “Thanks to his hard work and unyielding support to Michigan’s manufacturing sector, our state has been able to continue nation-leading job creation and achieve countless new investment opportunities to strengthen our economy and maintain Michigan’s role as a global manufacturing location.”
Since June 2009, Michigan has led the nation in new manufacturing job creation with more than 205,000 new jobs created. The state has been the centerpiece of nationwide economic growth and has seen lowest state unemployment in nearly two decades.
“I’m proud to accept the MMA’s Legislator of the Year award, but this is really a part of a team effort working closely with MMA during all my years in the Legislature,” said Horn. “MMA helps me be a better legislator because our relationship is a true partnership to grow jobs.”
